Jonathan Apgar

Founder Jon Apgar has a broad base of finance and accounting knowledge, including an extensive understanding of tax compliance, workflow implementation, and financial reporting. He has over a decade of experience working in both management accounting as a controller/finance director and public accounting as a tax preparer and auditor, including serving clients in his own firm since 2013.

Jon most enjoys solving problems for small business owners and helping them achieve their goals. He has earned and maintained a number of cloud software certifications, including the QuickBooks Certified Advanced ProAdvisor designation, and regularly attends accounting conferences to stay up-to-date on regulations, best practices, and the newest software features and products that can benefit his clients.

Jon received his BA in accounting from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 2007. He is a member of American Institute of CPAs, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas (097718) and Indiana (CP11600352) and able to serve clients nationwide using the cloud.

In his spare time, Jon uses his finance and accounting knowledge on a volunteer basis to serve nonprofit community organizations like the United Way and Girls Inc. He lives in San Antonio, Texas with his brilliant wife, Lauren, who is an institutional researcher at UTSA.

Nova Harmon
Accounting Associate Nova Harmon has 8 years of professional experience working for both single doctor and multi doctor practices in which she carried out patient billing, insurance filing, and other necessary administrative tasks while maintaining a superior level of customer service. She has completed the QuickBooks Online Certification training to better support the clients of Jonathan Apgar CPA PLLC. Nova holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Angelo State University, and has been an important part of the Apgar CPA team since March 2019.
